What it is

MarceloBot is the reader Marcelo uses to open public web pages. Marcelo is a marketing platform: a business that uses it asks Marcelo to read a website it names, so that Marcelo can report on what that website says.

If you found this address in your server log, a business using Marcelo asked for a page on your site to be read.

What it does

It asks for pages the way a browser does and reads what comes back. It does not sign in, it does not fill in or submit forms, and it changes nothing on the site it reads.

It does not roam the web. It opens the site it was asked about, follows links within that site, and stops.

How to recognise it

Every request it makes carries one of these two User-Agent strings:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MarceloBot/1.0; +https://meetmarcelo.ai/bot) business facts scan

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 Chrome/128 Safari/537.36 MarceloBot/1.0 (+https://meetmarcelo.ai/bot)

Both contain the name MarceloBot and this address.

How to keep it off your site

Refuse requests whose User-Agent contains MarceloBot, at your server, your firewall or your CDN. It gives its name on every request so that you can.

If you would rather ask, or you think it is reading your site by mistake, write to support@meetmarcelo.ai with the address of your website.
