Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everything done with Marcelo: the application, the accounts and websites you connect to it, the content it generates for you, the websites it builds and hosts, the messages it sends on your behalf, and the web pages it reads at your request.
Content and claims
Do not use Marcelo to create, publish or send anything that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive or misleading;
- makes a claim the business cannot support — a licence it does not hold, a certification it has not earned, an award it did not win, a result it cannot deliver, or a price it does not honour;
- infringes somebody else’s copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy — including photographs, text or branding taken from another business’s website;
- impersonates a person, a business or a public body, or misrepresents who is speaking;
- is a fake or paid-for review, a review written in a customer’s name without their knowledge, or a reply to a review that discloses a customer’s private information;
- harasses, threatens or discriminates against anyone, or targets children;
- contains malware, phishing, hidden redirects, cloaked content, or anything designed to deceive a search engine or a visitor about what a page is.
Regulated trades — health, finance, legal services, construction, home services in many states, and others — carry their own advertising and licensing rules. Following them is your responsibility. Marcelo generates what you ask for from facts you confirmed; it does not check whether a claim is lawful in your industry or your state.
Accounts and websites you connect
- Connect only accounts and websites you own or are authorised to manage on behalf of their owner. Connecting a client’s account is a representation that the client has agreed to it.
- Do not use a connected account in a way its own platform forbids. Google, Meta, WordPress hosts, Shopify, Wix and every other platform have their own terms, and a breach of those is a breach of this policy.
- Do not point Marcelo at a website, listing or advertising account in order to harm it, or at a competitor’s account you have no right to.
Reading other websites
Marcelo reads public web pages — your own site, the sites of competitors you name, and the pages search engines and AI engines return — in order to report on them. It identifies itself on every request and reads only what is public. You may not use it to reach content behind a login, to bypass a paywall or an access control, to collect personal information about individuals, or to copy another site’s content for republication. A site owner who asks Marcelo to stop reading their site will be honoured; see MarceloBot.
Messages sent on your behalf
Where Marcelo sends an email or a message to your customers — a reply to an enquiry from your website, for example — you are the sender. You must have a lawful basis to contact each recipient, you must honour every opt-out, and you must comply with the laws that apply to commercial messages where your recipients are, including CAN-SPAM in the United States, CASL in Canada and the ePrivacy rules in Europe. Do not use Marcelo to send unsolicited bulk messages.
Websites Marcelo hosts
A website Marcelo builds and hosts for you may not be used:
- for anything listed under “Content and claims” above;
- to sell or promote goods or services that are illegal where they are offered, or that our payment processor’s rules prohibit;
- to collect visitors’ personal information without a privacy notice of your own;
- to host files or pages unrelated to the business the site was built for;
- to distribute malware or run a phishing page.
We may remove a page, or take a hosted site offline, when we receive a credible report that it breaches this policy or the law, and we may do so before contacting you where the harm is ongoing.
The service itself
Do not:
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, or breach any security or authentication measure, except through a disclosure we have agreed to in writing;
- interfere with the service or the hosted websites of other customers — by load, by automation, or by any other means;
- work around a limit, a price, a Credit balance or a plan, or exploit an error to obtain work you have not paid for;
- copy, reverse engineer, scrape or build a competing product from the service, its prompts, its outputs or its interface, except where the law gives you that right notwithstanding this clause;
- resell, sublicense or offer the service to third parties as your own, without a written agreement with us. An agency using Marcelo for the businesses it represents is not reselling it.
- share your sign-in with anybody. Each person who works in your account is added as a team member with their own sign-in.
What happens on a breach
We may remove content, pause a feature, suspend a business or close an account that breaches this policy, in proportion to the breach. Where circumstances allow we tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. Where they do not — an ongoing scam, a platform demanding immediate action, a legal order — we act first and tell you afterwards. We may also report unlawful activity to the authorities.
Reporting a breach
To report content or a website that breaches this policy, write to support@meetmarcelo.ai with the address of the page and what is wrong with it. Copyright complaints follow the Copyright & DMCA Policy.
